Hard to Find Vintage Motorcycle Parts

If you have a vintage motorcycle and you’re restoring it then you know how it’s a true labor of love.

Yet, finding the parts that are needed so you can finish the restoration project can really be frustrating and difficult, especially if you’re fixing a rare model.

Good for you though, the Internet makes this job of searching for rare items and parts so much easier.

The first place I would look for those parts would be the auction websites. There are many of these kinds of websites scattered all over the place. Some are just generic auction websites, but if you search around you can find auction sites that specialize in vintage motorcycle parts.

If you do choose to shop for your parts with this method, you’ll want to be sure that the sellers rating is excellent and that your part that you’re buying is exactly what you need.

This is very important because usually, you can not return these items after you purchase them from these auction sites. If this ever does happen and you get a part that isn’t right, you can always re-sell it on the auction site.

Another place you can purchase your motorcycle parts from is the after market parts websites and the general motorcycle parts websites. Both of these sites are going to offer a search feature that will let you search their database for the part you’re interested in.

When the website does not have your part, sometimes you can fill out a request form or drop the website owner an e-mail requesting the part. They may know where and how you can get a hold of it.

If your on-line search for those vintage motorcycle parts is a real flop, you can also try conducting a physical search for the part.

You can try those trade magazines as these can be a really good source for finding those rare accessories and parts. Just search the classified section in the back of the magazine.

There are also flea markets, estate sales, garage sales, motorcycle rallies, trade fairs and motorcycle exhibits and shows.
